On Friday 16th September The Cathedral Choir of Ss. Peter and Paul travelled to Ukraine.

The 2011 Synod of the Ukrainian Catholic Church was held in Curitiba, Brazil September 5 – 10, 2011.
34 Bishops attended. This was the first Synod under the leadership of the newly elected Patriarch Sviatoslav Shevchuk. It was held immediately after the Patriarchal Sobor on Monasticism which was held in Prudentopolis, Brazil. Australia had five delegates at the Sobor (Maru Jarockyj, Maria Kwas, George Fedyszyn, Geraldo Suchololak and Steven Burak). They made a very useful contribution and made Australia proud.

The 2011 SOBOR, an assembly of Laity, Religious, Monastics, Clergy and Hierarchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, was held in Prudentopolis, Parana, Brazil from August 31 - September 4, 2011. The overall theme was on Consecrated Life in the Church with specific themes on 3 different days: God's Call, Mission and Formation. The foundational scripture passage was from Matthew 5:13-14 "You are light, You are Salt of the Earth".

Astrology in all its forms has always been condemned by the church as a work of the devil. This is one of the earliest and most constant teachings of the church. It is not surprising because when Jesus came into this world the whole religious culture of the pagan world was dominated by various beliefs in astrology, horoscopes, soothsaying and magic.
